Deeper
Welcome to Deeper, a roguelike stealth game where your goal is...to go deeper. Find the exit, avoid getting caught, and go ever deeper...
DEV NOTE: This was a technical experiment for me, made during a game jam that I got a late start on. It's far from a complete experience, it can barely be categorized as a game...
Things I accomplished:
* Shaders: both custom dithering and grayscaling shaders
* AI: navigation meshes built into tilesets, proper vision cones for detecting players (behind or not behind obstacles), complex state machines to manage AI states for threat detection and fall-off
* Lighting: Obstacles generate shadows to block out vision along with a fog of war
Things I didn't get to:
* Maps: procedural generation of maps
* Menus: main menus, settings menus
* Sounds: SFX and music
* Enemies: visualizing progress towards detection and vision cones

not sure what im supposed to do but i like the little guy
I appreciate the feedback, I updated the page to clarify things a bit. I took on this game jam as a technical challenge to myself as I wanted to get a start with shaders, enemy AI (nav, detection, complex states), lighting, and procedural map generation. I didn't get to the last one (time constraints) but I'm happy with the others.
I fully intend to take what I learned during this game jam on with me to future game jams with the goal of eventually being able to make less...experimental games during a 5 day window.
